Do you know the answers?

4 questions most hotels cannot answer

Most hotels can say how the month is going. Fewer can say whether it is better than last year — on every figure, in every period, without doing the maths themselves.

1

Is revenue heading up or down compared with last year?

2

Are guests cancelling more than last year?

3

Are we getting more per room sold than last year?

4

Are we selling more or fewer nights than last year?

This is what you see

Every key figure, every period — in one table

The same figures for year to date, the month, the rest of the year, the full year and the last twelve months — each with its own comparison against last year.

Periods SiloStay · demo data
Actual revenue €3,579,923 ▲ 3.4 %
Room nights 22,353 ▲ 3.7 %
Occupancy 68.0 % ▲ 2.4 pp
RevPAR €99 ▲ 4.9 %
Illustration with demo data (SiloStay). The real module shows your own figures.
  • ✓Five periods side by side — year to date, the month, rest of year, full year and rolling 12 months
  • ✓Comparison against last year — on every single figure — in per cent or percentage points, whichever fits
  • ✓Revenue, rate and occupancy — actual revenue, ADR, RevPAR, occupancy and revenue per guest night
  • ✓On the books for the rest of the year — what is booked, what is expected and the average per booking
  • ✓Recommendations when the figures warrant them — nine fixed questions that only speak up when the period’s own figures give cause

Periods shows what — the modules show why

Periods shows WHAT is moving. The analysis lives in the modules — and every recommendation points to where the answer is.

Questions and answers

What hotels ask us

Do we need to set anything up before the module works?
No. Periods shows figures from the first PMS sync — there is no set-up. At the bottom is «Data as of», the latest date with data; every period is calculated from it.
What does «Data as of» — the anchor — mean?
It is the most recent date your PMS has delivered data for. Year to date (YTD) runs from 1 January to the anchor, the month (MTD) from the 1st to the anchor, the rolling year (R12M) is the last 12 months back, and the rest of the year (ROY) runs from the day after the anchor to 31 December.
Why do some cells show «—»?
Because the figure does not exist for that period. The on-the-books rows (OTB) are about the future and therefore only have figures in ROY (rest of year) and TY (this year). «—» is a real answer — never an error.
How are ADR, occupancy and RevPAR calculated in the table?
Always as a ratio of the period's totals — never as an average of averages. ADR = room revenue ÷ room nights sold in the period; occupancy = room nights sold ÷ available nights; RevPAR = room revenue ÷ available nights. Unfolded under «How the numbers are calculated» on the page.
